Adult Self-Defense Instructional Program - Hicksville Athletic Center2019-09-23 18:00:00 ABOUT:This is a 10 week adult self-defense instructional program held at the Hicksville Athletic Center in Hicksville NY, consisting of 12 sessions over July, August, and September. There are two classes to choose from: every Monday between 6-7pm, or every Thursday between 3-4pm. Both classes are held only once per week. You will a blend of TaeKwonDo (different styles of kicks) and Aikido (wrist grabs and escapes). Classes are Co-ed. Meditation is included in every class, with light meditation music played in the background. Andrea Arroyo’s lyrical and thought provoking works bring attention to pressing issues like the environment, women’s rights and immigration. For the artist, the struggles of women in history mirror the struggles of women in contemporary society, who have to defy social norms and prejudice in order to achieve justice and equality. “Beauty is Revolutionary” Andrea Arroyo About the artist: Andrea Arroyo is an award-winning artist working in a range of media including public art, painting, drawing, illustration and site-specific installation. Her work is exhibited internationally and is in private, corporate and public collections around the world.  Public art and commissions include projects for New York Restoration Project, The Morris-Jumel Mansion Museum, the New York Women Foundation, El Museo del Barrio, The International Museum of Women, The MTA/New York Subway, The NY School Construction Authority, and The Women’s Rights National Historical Park.
