Why Go: If you thought you couldn\\\'t find a lively bar scene in conservative Turkey, think again. During the day, Sakarya Street is a central district of shops and cafes like any other. But at night it transforms to the center of nightlife in Ankara. Music and dance aficionados bar-hop to find pop hits, trance, Turkish classics, hard rock, metal, and more. Street vendors set up late at night to offer snacks like kofte (meatballs), durum (wraps), kokorec (lamb intestines), or iskembe (soup with lamb intestines). On weekends the party lasts until well after sunrise. Steer clear of the gypsy children who will try to scam or pickpocket you, but the street is relatively safe at all hours of the night.
