Why Go: This is one of the most important mosques in India and was built by Shah Jahan in 1648 on request by his favorite daughter Jahanara Begum. Also known as Friday mosque, this is a red sandstone monument with white marble décor and is adorned with the beautiful paintings, the intricate latticework designs, glazed tiles decorated with floral motifs of beautiful colors and carvings. The Tomb of the sacred Sufi Saint Sheikh Salim Chisti is situated within the compound of Jama Masjid. This mosque is situated right in the middle of a bustling market and is visible from the Agra Fort.
